an English sonnet about my favorite season and how it goes by so goddamn fast
lyrics
I took a drive today in mountain rain
A floating bliss arrested heart in love
in October awake with parting pain
on foot by land so damp the dirt and mud
I’ve waited long for Autumn come to me
And just as fast it disappears again
I felt it’s breath on summer’s gentle breeze
In hot pursuit I chased it round the bend
My head and heart were bent on living deep
In the Mossy cool from the Mountain stone up high
Allowing cold to wash away the heat
From my tortured brow and the labored breath, I sigh
The moment holding everything so still
Will come and go and leave it’s solemn chill
